This year’s programme will provide a grant of €8,000 to each of the six appointed musicians to facilitate the creation of new work and creative partnerships. Audiences around the country will have opportunities to enjoy the new material created during each of the residencies through live concert performances and online content. Research in music and human computer interaction is also useful in areas where one’s whole body plays a key role in the interaction. This is because many musical activities involve coordinating the whole body, in real-time, often collaborating with other people, while dealing with significant perceptual and cognitive demands. Techniques for wearable motion capture originally developed for musicians are now being used in clinical applications.

Music Network brings together four leading traditional musicians to pool their considerable talents, and the results are even greater than the sum of the parts. Tara Breen, Laoise Kelly, Josephine Marsh and Nell Ní Chróinín have been setting the bar high as performers, both at home and around the globe. Dedicated and passionate, they’ll lead audiences through a programme of traditional tunes and songs, and for good measure, into a new Music Network commission by Josephine, a gifted tunesmith. This is a warm and intimate conversation of equals, one on which listeners are privileged to eavesdrop. International Music Network is an international marketing company specializing in the booking and management of tours for artists who represent the highest level of musical and artistic expression in their respective genres. IMN’s foundation is based upon respect and compassion for the world’s music and arts, with a desire to contribute to the cultural growth and awareness of the global audience.

Bradford Music & Arts Service and IVE have joined forces to launch an exciting, unique offer, exclusively for 15 schools located in the BradfordDistrict through the Artsmark award. Bursaries are available to support participation for all young people interested. These groups demonstrate some of the many interests and concerns that Quakers pursue as part of their wider commitment to their faith. Most groups meet up and organise activities – it’s a great way to meet Quakers and make new contacts. Do please contact a group if you are interested to know more about it. The Research Network will bring together a wide range of practitioners and researchers, culminating in a major open conference that will launch the Music and Social Intervention Network into the wider research community.
